Behold Lady Liberty!

 David Alan Black

The hideous shock is over. The simple populace was taught by its simple press to comfort themselves with the reflection: “After all, the law was being followed.” How little can we foresee the consequences either of wise or unwise action!

Officials in Washington and Florida adhered to their policy of moderation and half-measures. They appeared unable to move without the permission of the judiciary. This is an explanation, but no excuse. Virtuous motives, trammeled by inertia and timidity, are no match for resolute wickedness. Pronouncements of outrage only provided comfort for everyone who wished to be humbugged. Inert and paralyzed, the government lost its last chance of arresting murderous ambitions.

The whole world had turned its eyes toward America. Brave words were uttered, but actions would have spoken louder. Weakness is not treason, though it may be equally disastrous. The issue was vital to America’s existence as a moral society, and any government worthy of the name should have made up its own mind and acted independently.

Over the past 50 years our nation has departed from a Christian consensus and the result has been a devastating effect upon culture, bringing with it a sweeping breakdown in morality. State-sponsored euthanasia is today a more imminent danger than ever before. A modern resurgence of liberty fighters is needed – a great drawing-together of men and women of all parties in America who see the perils of the future and are resolute upon practical measures to secure the cause of life and liberty, equally menaced by judicial tyranny and government complacency.

Meanwhile, the mute voice of Terri will soon cease to echo, and her cause cease to count, along with that of 46,000,000 murdered preborn.

Behold Lady Liberty! – alone, impotent, a shallow mockery amid the lip-serving platitudes of her irresolute and cynical citizens.

Doom marches on.
